The Materials Science & Engineering (MSEN) graduate program (http://msen.uark.edu) contributes to that as one of the successful interdisciplinary science and engineering programs at the University of Arkansas. Its education and research are focused on understanding of materials and their properties; processes for producing materials and modifying their properties; creation of devices and systems with features enabled by this manipulation of material properties; and an understanding of the economics that affect successful introduction of these enhanced and novel devices and systems into industry and society.

 

The MSEN graduate program has faculty from ten departments, including Physics, Electrical Engineering, Chemistry, Biological Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, and Mechanical Engineering. The MSEN graduate program offices are in the Nanoscale Material Science and Engineering Building along with the Institute for Nanoscience and Engineering. The MSEN program fosters diversity and community as it develops students into successful professionals who can solve problems through non-traditional routes and relationships.
