This is a part-time position, which assists in publicity efforts for all sponsored sports, including writing press releases and feature stories. Produces and edits game programs, game notes, and media guides. Assists with maintenance of the Athletic Department’s Web site.

The Sports Information Assistant Director is responsible for assisting with statistical reporting of information to the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics and the Red River Athletic Conference along with developing social media avenues to promote TAMUT athletics while developing, maintaining, and implementing a highly efficient, organized, and professional department.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

+ Assists in publicity efforts for all sponsored sports, including writing press releases and feature stories; producing and editing game programs, game notes and media guides; helping to maintain historical records; distributes athletic information to all media outlets; and assists in the relations with local, regional, and national media

+ Assists with game-day operations, including media relations, game management and statistical services

+ Trains and supervises graduate students, student workers and game-day staff

+ Provide support to the Director, Sports Information and Athletics Director

+ Assist with updating and maintaining the athletic website, all social media platforms i.e., Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and look to continue its growth.

+ Compile and distribute statistics, maintain school records, write game day stories for website

+ Operate computer programs including Presto Sports and Dakstats and reporting information to the NAIA

+ Assist in day-to-day operations within the athletic department.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

Minimum Qualifications

+ Bachelor’s degree in sports journalism, sports administration, public relations, or related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

+ Two (2) years of related experience

+ Demonstrated strong writing and verbal skills

+ Web design and basic computer application experience

+ Demonstrated reliability and ability to perform under deadlines and handle multiple projects simultaneously

Preferred Qualifications

+ Master’s degree

Other Requirements

+ Effective organizational and time management skills

+ Knowledge of Presto Sports and Dakstats and utilization in the sports of soccer, baseball, softball, volleyball, and basketball

+ Knowledge of reporting statistical information to the NAIA and its process

+ Knowledge in working with SIDHELP/PRESTO SPORTS and athletic websites
