Industrial Engineering Manager - Ft. Smith, AR
The Industrial Engineering Manager will identify and evaluate financial opportunities and recommend solutions that will drive overall pipeline effectiveness and continuous improvement. The primary objective is to provide analysis and support for the Manufacturing Network to drive overall excellence in customer service and value within Mars Petcare. The position will also drive timely implementation of these and other initiatives at plants and across segment production lines. Primary interface is with the Continuous Improvement, Segment Industrial Engineers, Project Engineers, Activity Managers, Plant Manager, Research & Development, Sales and Marketing, and other functional business areas as required in plants and national office.
In addition, the role will mentor the site Continuous Improvement Technicians and serve as site lead for the Focused Improvement Pillar in the Mars Supply Excellence (MSE), or Total Productive Maintenance team overseeing the Make and Pack functional areas, guiding the Integrated Work Systems/Mars Supply Excellence program to drive operational rigor in data collection, reporting, benchmarking and continuous improvement to positively impact asset utilization and productivity measures.
What are we looking for?
- A Bachelor's Degree. A Bachelor's Degreein Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Business Management ispreferred. Any additional advanced education such as an MBA or Masters is also a plus.
A minimum of 3 years' experience in one of the following areas: Production Line Manager and/or Site Industrial Engineer and/or Project Engineer and/or comparable technical position - Proven success in loss elimination through UPS or Kaizen methodologies
- Preferred skills in Total Productive Maintenance (TPM), Lean and solid root cause analysis and problem solving.
- Experience with TPM implementation, LEAN tools, Six Sigma Green Belt / Black Belt
- Ability to work cross functionally and collaboratively with stakeholders in all departments
What would be your key responsibilities?
- Facilitate and coach others in daily problem solving/loss elimination activities.
- Recommend and implement tools to monitor and optimize supply performance. Maintain accurate catalogue of process, product and packaging capabilities relevant to leveraging existing platforms for growth
- Lead Focused Improvement Pillar
- Maintain accurate catalogue of process, product and packaging capabilities relevant to leveraging existing platforms for growth
- Liaison with the central office MSE and engineering teams within the region.
- Assist in analysis of innovation/project ideas for feasibility and financial viability
- Champion rigorous application of Factory Mars Operating System (FMOS)/Daily Direction Setting for site. Audits the critical Run to Target Daily Management System and provides recommendations for Improvements.
- Evaluate future capacity needs and propose amount and timing of capacity additions. Provide Project Engineers with target line metrics and financial justification for capital installations. Assist In the development and monitoring of project start up curves.
