One of TNC's primary goals is to cultivate an inclusive work environment so that employees around the globe have a sense of belonging and feel that their unique contributions are valued. We know we'll only achieve our mission by hiring and engaging a diverse staff that reflects the communities in which we work. Recognizing that people bring talent and skills that have been developed outside the scope of a job, we take a holistic approach to recruitment that considers life experience in addition to the professional requirements listed in our postings. Please apply - we'd love to hear from you. To quote a popular saying at TNC, "you'll join for the mission, and you'll stay for the people."

WHAT WE CAN ACHIEVE TOGETHER

TNC IT is on an Agile journey in pursuit of more focused value delivery, greater transparency, clearer prioritization, and enhanced team self-organization. Agile Team Coaches are each a key part of the Agile Center of Excellence (ACoE). Coaches conduct Agile transformation activities across IT in concert with ACoE guidance, the IT leadership team, Project Management Office (PMO), and the broader TNC IT strategy. This role will also support the ongoing setup and scaling of the ACoE.
Coaches work with teams across IT to start or deepen their Agile transitions. This includes coaching teams new to Agile as well as teams that have undergone an initial transition effort. Successful candidates will work with teams proactively and responsively, assess progress and challenges, ensure continuous improvement, and address support requests related to Agile principles, practices, and supporting technology tools (i.e., Atlassian suite).

For new-to-Agile teams, Agile Team Coaches will embed in a team or two for some time to understand current state, assess Agile health, kickstart or deepen Agile transitions, and train teams in self-organizing around Agile principles and practices. As these initial objectives are met, coaches will then ensure the teams' day-to-day self-sufficiency in Agile and begin transitions in other new-to-Agile teams. Alongside this work, Coaches will provide recurring support to teams that have completed an initial transition through periodic check-ins, trainings, and similar activities to deepen these teams' agility.

Individuals in this role collaborate upwards and laterally with ACoE colleagues and other IT staff to ensure alignment in Agile approaches and mindset. Coaches will work collaboratively with the PMO and Project Managers (PMs) to ensure positive mission- and team-oriented project approaches and outcomes.

The ACoE also provides the main administrative support for about 600 Jira, Jira Service Management, and Confluence users. The successful candidate for this role will assist with this support, including access management, setting up new projects and spaces, and troubleshooting tool issues.

WE'RE LOOKING FOR YOU

Have you ever asked yourself, "How can I make a difference?" but you don't know where to go or have the time to do it? At The Nature Conservancy, you can make a difference every day!

Agile Team Coaches support our Information Technology (IT) teams on their Agile journeys. This unique opportunity lets you bring your experience to shape the future state of agility across TNC IT. By joining our team, you will become part of a group that is a force to be reckoned with: a force for nature, a force for people, and a force for our planet.

WHAT YOU'LL BRING

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work independently to teach the Agile mindset, Manifesto, principles, and core processes to teams new to Agile.
  • Independently assess what Agile methodology best suits teams new to Agile, then establish Agile events, processes, and tooling according to this assessment.
  • Ensure proper coordination and collaboration with other teams.
  • Use health checks, coaching experience, stakeholder input, team member input, and other sources to assist teams in deepening their Agile journeys.
  • Help individuals and teams set up and troubleshoot Jira projects and Confluence spaces.
  • Contribute to the ACoE's strategy for TNC IT's Agile journey and align your work with it.
  • Ensure Agile coaching and guidance mesh with team, business, and organizational contexts.
  • Assist with furthering the ACoE's development; contribute to plans and communicate with broader IT audiences.
  • Help stakeholders define objective priorities that align with desired TNC mission outcomes.
  • Identify risks and opportunities and facilitate issue resolution.
  • Establish processes to track cross-system interdependencies and their impacts on release scope and schedules. https://www.eeoc.gov/eeo-policy-statement
