Description

Welding Technology degrees prepare students for entry-level positions in a wide range of industries. Industry job include aerospace, automobile manufacturing, shipbuilding, or pipeline construction. Welding is the joining of metal together with heat and filler metal, connecting beams and columns in buildings, bridges, and much more. Students will be introduced to the most commonly used processes: GTAW, SMAW, GMAW, and FCAW. The curriculum used for this program centers around the National Center for Construction Education and Research in Welding (NCCER). Students can earn NCCER credentials recorded in a database accessible online by potential employers. In addition, students can earn a certification through the American Welding Society (AWS). Welding Technology classes are on the Searcy and Heber Springs campuses and offer a Certificate of Proficiency (8 hrs.), a Technical Certificate (30 hrs.), and an Associates of Welding Technology degree (60 hrs.).
