Certificate of Proficiency Professional Medical Coder
This program of study can be a stand alone or part of a technical certificate or associate degree curriculum and is designed to enhance a person's skill set to make him/her more productive and marketable.
Student learning outcomes:
Be prepared to successfully complete a Professional Medical Coder Certification Exam
Apply code sets (CPT, HCPCS, ICD-10-CM) related to coding or professional services.
Discuss the role of the federal government in the development and oversight of healthcare service reporting and payment
Demonstrate an understanding of information about major insurance programs and federal healthcare legislation
Define and understand key terms associate with billing, reimbursement, and legislative entities
