Description
The SAU Criminal Justice major is designed to prepare students for entry-level positions in a variety of careers as well as to enable experienced persons to expand their knowledge and improve their skills. Students will not have to worry about constructing this pathway themselves, nor about whether credits will transfer or be accepted. If they take the appropriate classes at the appropriate time, based on this new agreement, they will be on the path to graduating from college as quickly as possible and at the lowest cost possible
Graduates of the Arkansas Law Enforcement Training Academy (ALETA) Basic Police Training will earn eleven (11) college credit hours and be awarded a Criminal Justice Certificate of Proficiency (C.P.) from SAU Tech. The eleven (11) hours will be accepted toward the requirements for the Law Enforcement Technical Certificate In order to obtain the technical certificate, students will be required to complete MATH 1023-Math Reasoning and ENGL 1113-Composition I. The remaining six (6) hours needed to complete the technical certificate will be awarded to ALETA graduates through SAU Tech’s prior learning assessment (PLA) program.
ALETA graduates who receive the Law Enforcement Technical Certificate can continue their college education by completing required hours through SAU Tech’s Professional Studies Associate of Arts (A.A.) degree (Law Enforcement Emphasis). The focus area includes 28 credit hours in law enforcement and 32 hours in General Education (Internet available).
