Description

Pulaski County Adult Education Certified Nursing Assistant Integrated Education and Training Course. As described by the National Skills Coalition, Integrated Education and Training (IET) allows for people to develop their basic skills and simultaneously train for an in-demand occupation such as the healthcare field.  This course is designed to improve the basic skills of our students, provide a career pathway into the healthcare field, provide training to prepare for licensing as a CNA, and provide education to prepare for WAGE certifications. This course does allow for dual enrollment in a GED prep class and CNA prep class.  If a student is lacking a high school diploma, they may work on this before, during and after enrollment.

Students who are interested in the CNA course will be expected to enroll and participate in Adult Education Curriculum.  The Adult Education Curriculum will consist of the TABE Test (pre and posttests) 40 hours of basic skills, career coaching, Workforce Preparation, and GED components, if needed. The CNA components will be taught by an RN and will consist of the CNA material as outlined by the State of Arkansas Office of Long Term Care.  During these weeks, students will have access to adult education teachers and can come in for extra help or tutoring anytime the CNA Instructor is not logging the required hours.  Students will be allowed ONE (1 day) excused absence (8hours) during the 4 weeks of CNA class (NO EXCEPTIONS).  If an excused absence occurs, those hours are to be made up before the student can register for the state exam.  Students will be required to wear scrub tops and bottoms to each class and black scrubs to both clinical days.
